I pulled cards before talking to Joan today, and I told her about them. I left my cards on the table and went for a walk and dinner; then a talk with Joan – enjoyable and necessary to grounding in practical reality. I’ve been frustrated – I cannot settle into my intended task: listening to recordings “to glean the gems” from my long recordings. I get to think up much better directions for conversations to go; opportunities missed… Sigh. I guess that’s why it’s difficult — perhaps asking people to listen and post in the comments the times of brilliance of ANYone would be better.

Later, on a whim, just before going outside to say hi to Mother Nature, I picked up my deck to pull one card as food for thought. As I shuffled, with my deck in my hands, I decided to cut it into 3 piles and just jot down the questions:
2 cards from my previous reading came back for a second shift! Strange… Truly, I did shuffle well, and then cut the deck. Weird! (MOM!! Yay, thank you for coming!)
What I see is both men looking at her – one with awe; one with patient interested attendance. She connects water and fire. Earlier today, I was thinking of my chosen style of dress – gypsy came to mind, and here she is! Oh, how I love to dance at the fire!
The Elder of Water (R) in the reading above referred to “Who is being taught” – as in, what aspect of me – does that have a bearing in this reading? Here it is “What do I need to know?” The old man rows forwards, looking backwards – blind to his goal and awed by a morning in Nature. In reverse, he is not looking at the past. He is looking at the future and the spectacle of the woman dancing with Spirit for her community at the fire.

This is not the first time recently, nor the second, that I have seen The Builder Reversed in one of my readings. I see Earth clarifying Water. I see the animals watching. I see the stars like fireworks for the dancer, and the Builder carefully perfecting a new kind of community building. There’s lots of fire in this, care and maturity. I see me dancing with 4 men, pillars of their communities, and fireworks. The Gardener is upright, and bends his knee to Mother Earth. I like that there are cords of firewood at the Builder’s snug and beautiful building – his firewood could be what feeds the Guardian’s fire. Each complements the others.
What do I need to know? Elder of Water (Reversed) (Guardian of Earth)
The Guardian of Earth doesn’t look happy and the Elder of Water is upside down. Even while the Guardian of Earth has his hands full, he is caring and considerate, watching the cycles and taking his cues from Mother Earth. He’s ready to respond, seeing what’s needed. The emotions that turn the Elder of Water upside down are grounded by the Guardian of Earth – grounding turbulent emotions into the Earth will support the guarding/regeneration of Earth.

Both cards of Fire, passion and creativity is indicated – the shooting stars indicate moments of brilliance and opportunities that drop unexpectedly from the skies. Staying alert for possibilities, I must respond before they are gone.

The Builder (in REVERSE!) has been repeatedly coming to indicate there’s something new and different calling to be built; something that will shelter my community in a new way. To me (and Joan) it has come to mean Our Heart Gardens.
Fighting all my life to dispel these dreams (it’s much too big and beautiful; can’t possibly be ME!!) – continuing to not believe or allow what seems so clear to me in this reading – is difficult. With MOM’s influence so clearly in it, it is much easier to accept than deny. I wonder, what will it REALLY look like? I sit, resonating with curiosity.
