Places to grow good food and good kids start in the hearts of those who live in those places — each place is as unique as those who share their time, skills, knowledge and energy.

Distributed far and wide, Our Heart Gardens is connected by a growing network becoming increasingly aware of itself.

It was hard watching /being part of the breakdown. Increasing numbers of people on the streets, affected by the War on Drugs, and the wars in the World; mental illness and poverty; decreasing integrity and ability of police to maintain order; governments infected by lobbyists and weapons makers. Mother Earth ravaged by extraction and distraction, dishonoured and dismissed. And then there was the pandemic.

The breakdown helps people make different choices. Buckminster Fuller said: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” Pieces of the vision in this website are falling into place, offering a new choice; OhGs, a new model. Here are some of the pieces:

World Wide EducationJim Garrison, president of Ubiquity University, began Humanity Rising on the day the lockdown. Offering a daily Zoom webinar, Jim invites change-makers, wisdom-keepers, scientists, spiritualists, experts and other passionate people to inform us about issues we are confronted by, and diverse solutions for them. Born in China to missionary parents, Jim now lives in the US and the Netherlands, and travels to Paris each year in July to visit Chartres with a group (90 in 2023) of pilgrim/students seeking connection with the Divine, the Black Madonna, and within themselves. Humanity Rising Network is forming through connections with Jon Ramer, Ben Bowler, Chief Phil Lane Jr. and others.

Global NetworkStanley Pokras, inspired by the Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential, began gathering the links offered by Humanity Rising, and others with similar intentions, into a wiki: OtherNetworks.org. This database has become the archive of Humanity Rising and Stan works tirelessly to improve and update the links to not only Humanity Rising but also the AfterChat which he instigated on Day 60 of Humanity Rising. The episode that day was “Connecting the Dots,” completely in alignment with Stan’s deepest motivations.

TheConversation.cc provides Zoom rooms for Food Healers and Climate Healers and Kindred Spirits Ireland can talk for as long as they want at the Conversation Campfire or in a Breakout Room. Shannon hosts “Gaia’s Zoom Room” every Tuesday from 6-8pm PT to talk about OhGs, (and) everything that comes up in the lives of whomever comes, and in the World.

Butler Urban Farm and Kamloops Food Policy Council – Butler Urban Farm is a local urban garden feeding the community through the actions of the Kamloops Food Policy Council. After a very successful first year, the KFPC hired a gardener and assistant who are responsible for the garden and for cultivation of volunteers and community outreach. More than 5 years of crops and kind actions have resulted in tons of produce and dozens of volunteers.

Arjun Singh – a former Kamloops politician and community builder, Arjun has a great understanding of technology, business, politics, and world affairs. Serving as councillor on City Council for 14 years, he ran for Mayor but was unsuccessful. He’s continuing to connect with his community and investigating possibilities with Our Heart Gardens. He loves clean “Dad” jokes!

Much more needs to be added, and this must do for now… Are you interested in becoming part of OhGs? Let’s talk about it!
