Yes, I was undeniably impressed. (FYI: KFPC = Kamloops Food Policy Council; OhGs = Our Heart Gardens; BUG = Butler Urban Garden, a seed of OhGs here in Kamloops, my hometown; and MOM is the Magic in Ordinary Moments)(more about all that below). I’ve had many of this kind of digital MOMs recently — each time it’s unexpected and such a thrill. Even more thrilling is when She appears sequentially…

When MOM waits for me to fumble (turn off/on the phone without opening the Home Screen so I get the right view to picture) it’s another hug from Her, reassurance that what is for me won’t go by me. When I was creating this website I wrote about how one did get by me – see 12:03/4.

Part of “Waking Up” is noticing how our lives are influenced by Something outside ourselves. I’ve read of how Indigenous people watch for signs in Nature… the flight or call of a bird, for example. Noticing digital MOMs is one way I’ve invited the Divine into my everyday urban life in a conscious way. Do you have special ways, “words” in the unique language you share with the Divine? S/He speaks differently to us all, and all creation.

The message I got from MOM in this instance was with respect to the letter I was writing to one of the people involved in the BUG, where I lend a hand when I can. It was catalyzed by the discovery of 215 unmarked graves of indigenous children at the Kamloops Residential School. In part, this is what I said:

“I want to ground the dream of Our Heart Gardens in Kamloops, with you and The Secwepemc People who are the ancient caretakers of the land, and develop with them ways to go forward together in a good way…. offer them the opportunity to work with us (you) on the land made available to us by the Butler family – a cocreation that provides opportunities for healing and abundance for all of us.

“How can it be done? What needs to be considered? Would the Butlers need to be asked? I presented it to KFPC but the reality of what would be involved wasn’t discussed. That’s what I’d like to talk about on the 22nd. I want to change the world — it needs changing. We change it together… let’s choose the way we want.”

Two members of the KFPC (one of whom works at the BUG) are planning to come – you are invited to be part of that conversation — TuesdayJune 22 from 6-8pm PT at TheConversation.cc we open Gaia’s Zoom Room to talk about OhGs and the power it has to make a difference in our communities, our food sovereignty and people’s well-being.
