When Becky Big Canoe came into Gaia’s Zoom Room to share the Kinship Way, I felt its power but couldn’t yet see how it might unfold. Now it is alive — carried into the world through Kindred Spirits Ireland. Clans are forming, a global map is growing, and gatherings are connecting kin across continents.
I took the first step myself, following the directions Becky gave, and discovered that I walk with the Red Oak Clan — part of the Earth Realm, rooted in resilience and longevity. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I feel the invitation to stand as Oak does: grounded, sheltering, and strong.
I wonder if Atlas, my cottonwood-tree friend, who stands rooted in the sparkling sands of the Thompson River, will be jealous – oh that’s such a human emotion. I don’t think trees have the same kind of emotions, but others may know better!
The Kinship Way is more than a framework. It is a remembering. A return to right relationship with each other, with the land, and with the spirit of the circle.
