Shannon McArthur was joined by Joan Hardy.
Shannon says: We talked about the Non-Violent Communication Workshop I found myself attending due to recent difficulties with the man downstairs (literally, not figuratively!) and other challenging situations. The course material wasn’t known to me before I made my decision – I laughed when I learned because it seemed so strange to me. I’m not a planner; why would I even think of planning a movement? …and then I thought, maybe the information would be helpful in moving OhGs forward… I’m not one to struggle too hard with MOM (She’s always right) especially when I might need what She’s providing for me! She can be tricky – heyoke energy!
Riffing off Glen Anderson’s “Summary of the EIGHT STAGES of the MOVEMENT ACTION PLAN”, Joan and I considered the OhGs movement – seems already deep into Stage 3 (Stage 1- Normal; Stage 2 – Prove the Failure of Institutions) – Ripening Conditions – imagining a positive triggering action instead of a negative one; how Stage 4 (Social Movement Takeoff) may be where we really are and where our current challenge lies (might we align with this pattern? how?); how Stage 5 (Identity Crisis of Powerlessness) might be avoided and 6 (Majority Public Support) be maximized by communication and Social Argonauts; Stage 7 (Success) be embraced and 8 (Continuing the Struggle), shared and enjoyed rather than struggled with.
