Cities Rising Week:

What possibilities exist through our collaboration and realization that each individual self is a cell in the Body of the One we (collectively) are? Let’s find out!!   (and now it’s over… It was GOOD!

Recordings of the week’s Humanity Rising sessions and the AfterChat breakout rooms (with their associated chats) along with the Saturday debriefing of the ChatAction Group (with its chat) can be found here, commencing on Day 159.)

In the week of January 11-15, 2021 as we enter the decade of huge transformation, Humanity Rising is convening Cities Rising, 5 days of exploring how to transform what we have to what we need.

The overarching theme of the week is to help us experience our city/community as a dynamic living system. This week-long exploration will offer a variety of lenses, tools and practices—and opportunities for reflection—that will enable us to best serve our city/ community so that it can best serve us.

Thriving human habitat concepts delivered by Beth Sanders and Marilyn Hamilton, leaders in the field, will be followed by Zoom engagement hosted by ChatAction, a group engaged in Humanity Rising who gathered by inspiration in the last half of 2020, to focus our many skills, wisdom and experience.

Come and play with us!

I am inviting you to workshop new ideas with us in After-chat (after the main presentation) to feedback to the Cities Rising conveners and presenters in an iterative process day by day during the week.  This is the fun part!

Our shared passion for people thriving together is birthing a way for providing the basics for everyone, making burdens lighter for all, and needs more easily seen, and met.

The Current Old Way: The concept of nuclear families has fractured communities – everyone living separately; elders and children estranged from each other and adults working multiple jobs to pay the bills. There’s a way this can be turned around.

Let’s come together to re-imagine cities, and the communities we live in. Let’s co-create a preferred future in thriving, interconnected individual and humanity-supportive habitats.

Topics and Agenda:

    • Monday: Notice your relationship with your city/community and your learning edges – the places outside of your comfort zone.
    • Tuesday:  Experience your city /community as a living system of complex, adaptive dynamics.
    • Wednesday: Discover and explore the governing principles and structures that best support the local conditions of  your city/community functions.
    • Thursday: Generate ideas for your “civic practice” that will enable you to use the tensions in your city /community to shape your service to your city/community so that it can best serve you.
    • Friday: Notice how you are mobilizing with regenerative action in ways that enable relationships of reciprocity with, within and from cities/communities.

Gaia’s Plan inspired me: “Oh’Gs, Our Heart Gardens, where we grow… happy… together.”

In networked, repurposed buildings, malls and arenas, neighborhoods and streets with adjoining buildings, people come when they can to help tend plants, to learn and play
and share their skills and energy. Working together, like indigenous people did –
in “longhouses” – we can take care of elders, the infirm, youngsters, youth and
young adults, without money. Providing a place to grow and work together,
and the basics for everyone, community will grow and
burdens will be lighter for all, and
needs more easily seen.

Let’s investigate the possibilities – bring your heartfelt inspirations in the collaboration offered by Marilyn and Beth in Cities Rising – January 11 to 15, 2021.

Will you join us?
